Lily Limbert died June 29 at Children s Hospital, according to Racine County Medical Examiner Michael Payne.
Limbert had just completed the eighth grade and would have been an incoming freshman at Greendale High School, said Kitty Goyette, Greendale Schools communications director.
Limbert was one of two teenage girls who were pulled from the waters of North Beach on June 21.
Shortly after 5 p.m., emergency crews responded to the beach for one to two teenage girls who were experiencing an emergency in Lake Michigan, according to a June 21 news release from the Racine County Sheriff s Office.
The first girl was rescued with cuts and scratches to her body. The second girl, later identified as Limbert, received medical attention at the scene and was taken to Children’s Hospital by Flight for Life, the sheriff s office said.
