Program Record Nine Tigers Named to All-ACC Academic Team

ACC ReleaseGREENSBORO, N.C. A program-record and ACC-leading nine Tigers earned All-ACC Academic Team recognition for their performance both in the classroom and on the court, it was announced today by Commissioner Jim Phillips.Academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0-grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one’s academic career. In addition, student-athletes must compete in at least 50 percent of their team’s contests.Amari Robinson picked up the honor for the fourth-consecutive year, while Hannah Hank garnered her third honor. Joining them on the All-ACC Academic Team are Daisha Bradford, Ale'Jah Douglas, MaKayla Elmore, Kionna Gaines, Madi Ott, Brie Perpignan, and Ruby Whitehorn.Pitt and Syracuse placed eight on the All-ACC Academic Team. Duke, Florida State, Louisville and Notre Dame had seven apiece. The team features 86 student-athletes, with at least one from each of the ACC’s 15 programs.

Clemson Upsets No 23 Florida State on Senior Day, 74-61

Clemson, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers Women’s Basketball team (16-14, 7-11 ACC) beat the No. 23 Florida State Seminoles (23-8, 12-6 ACC) in Littlejohn Coliseum on Sunday afternoon, 74-61. This is Clemson’s first time beating two top-25 teams in one season since 2001-2002. Seniors Brie Perpignan and Hannah Hank combined for 19 of Clemson’s 74 points and nine of its 36 rebounds.  Eight different Tigers scored for Clemson with four hitting double digits. Amari Robinson led all scorers with 20 points followed by Perpignan and Ruby Whitehorn, with 14 and 13 respectively. Clemson shot 45% from behind the arc and 46% from the field.  The Tigers came out hot as Robinson hit back-to-back shots in the opening minutes of the first quarter. In the final seconds of the quarter, Perpignan and Hank hit a pair of three-point shots accompanied by another two-point shot from Whitehorn to give Clemson a 18-15 lead. Clemson, S.C. – Clemson women’s basketball improved to 15-14 on the year and 6-11 in the ACC after defeating the Virginia Cavaliers (15-13, 4-13) 79-69 in their return to Littlejohn Coliseum.  Four Tigers hit double digits, with Amari Robinson leading all scorers with 18, followed by Daisha Bradford, Brie Perpignan, and Eno Inyang with 14 each. Hannah Hank pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and Clemson shot 78% from the free throw line. The Tigers and Cavaliers went back and forth in the first quarter; a pair of layups by Robinson and Kionna Gaines gave the Tigers the lead they would not relinquish. Clemson then went on a late 7-0 first-quarter run to set the tone for the remainder of the game.  Clemson and Virginia played an evenly matched second quarter, as the Tigers outscored the Cavs 19-18.
