NARA Prosecutors here wrapped up their investigation into the man accused of murdering former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe by bringing additional charges against the suspected assassin.
NARA Nara prefectural police on Feb. 13 said they sent papers to prosecutors for additional charges against the man accused of murdering former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
NARA Prosecutors on Jan. 13 indicted Tetsuya Yamagami for the murder last July of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, concluding after a lengthy psychiatric evaluation he was of sound mind at the time and is competent to bear criminal liability.
The suspect in the slaying of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe may face at least five additional charges concerning suspected firearms violations after police decided to refer him to prosecutors for the offenses.
NARA Work began Dec. 19 to remove the guardrails set up around the site where former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe was fatally shot while giving a campaign speech on July 8.
