Kayla Cobb, 26, was driving a white Kia sedan south on U.S. (South Scenic Highway), and the train was also southbound, the report said. Warning lights were operational and the crossing arms were down as the train approached the road, PCSO reported, based on evidence and witness statements. Cobb drove around the crossing arms, and the train struck the car on the passenger side, behind the rear door, before the vehicle had crossed the tracks, the report said. The impact split the car in half, propelling the backseat area about 50 feet. The child and his mother had been seated in that portion of the car and were ejected, PCSO reported. Though a child safety seat was found, the initial investigation indicates that none of the occupants were properly restrained in their seats, the report said. ....
