Sumter County receives additional doses of COVID-19 vaccine

LEESBURG The Florida Department of Health in Sumter County received additional doses of the COVID-19 vaccine this week over prior allocations, with 10,000 first doses and 1,000 second doses.
The health department will also receive an additional 6,700 second doses today. Additional doses of the vaccine have been distributed in part to The Villages Hospital, Florida Cancer Specialists and Langley Health Services.
Meanwhile, vaccination efforts continue in Lake County at two sites and Global Medical Response continues to operate a a vaccine site in Sumterville.
While the GMR has been operating at Lake Sumter State College, the provider will soon change locations.
GMR will move to St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Wildwood on March 8, which will support an expansion of vaccination throughput. GMR will contact patients scheduled for March 8 and beyond to ensure a smooth transition between locations. ....

Where can I get vaccinated?
First-dose vaccinations are being administered at Lake Square Mall in Leesburg. Second doses are being given at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6803 Old Hwy. 441 South in Mount Dora.
The Villages site is located at 3800 Wedgewood Lane.
All locations are drive-thru sites, and you must be a Florida resident to receive the shot.

SOUTHINGTON â A revaluation of properties in town and new housing construction led to a jump of 6.7 percent in total taxable property value.
The total of taxable real estate, personal property and vehicles is compiled yearly in the grand list. Town officials released the 2020 list this week which will be used to set the tax rate for the 2021-22 budget.
Without raising the tax rate, taxable property added to the townâs rolls last year would give town government more than $1.5 million in additional revenue. The new grand list contains a total of $4.4 billion in real estate, motor vehicles and personal property. ....
