New campaign has TikTok influencers quitting vaping

KLKN-TV April 15, 2021 12:22 pm (ABC) A new approach to a not-so-new dilemma: vaping among teens and young adults. The Truth Initiative, a non-profit dedicated to preventing the use of tobacco products, is launching a social media campaign on TikTok called “This is Quitting.” TikTok influencers are being hired to share their own personal experiences quitting on social media. Victoria Annunziato, AKA “King Victober,” decided to join the campaign and open up to her six million followers. Annunziato said, at first, she was nervous about letting her followers know she vaped and that she wanted to stop. “I was totally terrified of failure. I was terrified of not being able to quit or not being strong enough to quit, but I think that sharing my story, one of the positives was definitely the support that my followers gave me,” commented Annunziato.

For Many Young People, 2021 is the Year to Cancel Vaping

Jerry Purpdrank have a lot in common. They have millions of subscribers. They vape. And they want to quit using e-cigarettes and encourage others to do the same, by sharing their personal experiences in real time with their millions of followers. Victoria, Tosha and Jerry are joining the 60% of young e-cigarette users surveyed who stated they want to quit vaping in 2021. Of course, quitting vaping isn’t easy. Fortunately, the same survey from Truth Initiative shines a light on what can help young people looking to leave vaping behind in 2020. According to the same survey from Truth Initiative, more than 40% of those seeking to quit said a social media support system and connecting with influencers on their own quitting journeys would help. Even more 51% said texting would also help them quit.
