Interview with Joan Trumpauer mulholland. She recalls taking part in the 1961 freedom rides, attending tougaloo college, and serving at the Mississippi State penitentiary with other activists. This interview is part of a project on the Civil Rights Movement initiated by congress in 2009, conducted by the Smithsonian National museum of africanAmerican History and culture, the american full like american folklife center. Number two, what led up to this glorious moment on that bus . How did you feel at the moment of arrest . [ bell dings ] that bell tells us the time is up. She just has that gentleness, i think, that would allow to be defiant. Okay. Any one of these three ladies could have had the courage, and im ashamed to say, i dont really know which one it really is, but i voted for number two. All right. And nipsey, who got your vote .
