Suicide awareness walk focuses on need for change in attitudes
Havre Daily News/Kimberly Bolta People carrying signs with the names of people who committed suicide walk toward Tilleman Field on Montana State University-Northern s campus during a suicide awareness event. Montana State University s Sweetgrass Society, in collaboration with the Little River Institute and Northern s Healthy Lifestyle Advocates, hosted a suicide awareness walk Wednesday with nearly 100 people in attendance. The event featured a pair of speakers from the Fort Belknap Indian Community who talked about their experiences with suicide and how it affected their lives and communities. The first was Sweetgrass Society President Aryn Longknife-Jake, who talked about the people she s seen take their own lives in her community at Fort Belknap, as well as her own mental health struggles.. ....
Havre Daily News/Kimberly Bolta Kimberly Martinez shops for a last minute gift at Foster Home and Hearth. A new business in Havre is offering some home goods during the holiday season. Foster Home and Hearth, a home décor and clothing store, opened in Havre the second week in November. The store is located in 305 Building on the corner of Third Street and Third Avenue. The owner of the store, Mayke Brenna, said she wanted to give some more shopping opportunities in Havre. The goal of the store was to have somebody walk in and get a gift for somebody, whether its a housewarming, a thank you, a wedding, a baby or something for themselves, she said. ....
