thank you. it was my honor to serve alongside justice ruth bader ginsburg for 15 of her 27 years as a member of the supreme court of the united states. prior to that. it was my more stressful honor to argue before her as an advocate in the port but her contributions to the court and to the law began decades earlier. as a law student in the 1950s and a law professor in the 60s and 70s. she helped pave the way for women in the legal field as an advocate. she argued six important cases before the supreme court winning five as a judge of the united states court of appeals for the district of columbia circuit, and then an associate justice of the supreme court. she modeled excellence in the craft over more than four decades on the bench. throughout she inspired countless others to better understand our constitution. and to see opportunity and promise in our country. i am delighted that the smithsonian s national museum of american history is honoring justice ginsburg with it ....
