Fun closing out the school year The candy bar game is a fun game for all ages. This wacky end of the school year is fast approaching and this week’s column will just try to help you and your children wind down this year and have some fun. One idea I saw and liked was an end-of-the-year scavenger hunt you can make by placing things around the house that will be used for summer like bug spray, sunscreen, sunglasses, chalk, bubbles, a squirt gun, water balloons to fill. Perhaps have a water balloon fight to end the year. Another cool thing you could do, with all the papers, broken pencils, crayons, etc. found in the kids’ backpacks, maybe have a bonfire and burn all that junk. ....
The school year is about to end End of the year ideas like hand art could be fun to do. The end of a school year, the beginning of what? This time last year, we were still so confused as to what summer was going to be like and if and when we would see our kids return to school. The end of this year is a bit more settled but still leaves one with how much will things change this summer the Summer of 2021. All hopes are that by July 4th things would be more like “normal” than they have been for over a year. ....
Mother’s Day soon approaches By Kimberly Jenkins - Kim’s Korner Kids love to finger paint, why not let them finger paint their finger prints for Mother’s Day. This picture frame can be a magnet or anything else you want to make it be. Thinking back on years past and the many Mother’s Days I have been able to share with my mother for over 60 years, I can’t remember gifts that my three brothers and sister have given mom, but I can remember how my mother liked the things that we hand made as kids and how she would make over them like they were a big diamond or something. She has even carried that tradition over to her grandchildren and has treasured the things that they have made for her too. It’s funny, I can’t remember any gifts but can easily remember her smile and wonderful comments about the homemade gifts the most. It’s not like some of them were beautiful either.
