Dreaming of making it big in baseball, teenage brothers An Seung-han and An Seung-young travelled hundreds of miles away from home to remote Deokjeok island, where the sport and their team, are now the closest thing they have to a family. The boys are among a few dozen teenagers who have left the bright lights of some of South Korea's biggest cities to join a specialised sports academy set up by Kim Hak-yong, former manager of the elite Dongguk University team that has produced scores of players in the national KBO major league. In addition to helping the boys achieve their dreams, the sports academy has breathed life into Deokjeok, which was struggling to retain, and attract, youngsters, like many other rural areas in the world's most rapidly ageing society. ....

POSCO Int l to produce 2 million EV motor cores Posted : 2021-04-28 16:36 By Kim Jae-heun POSCO Group announced a plan to convert itself into a green mobility company Wednesday, launching the green autoparts brand e Autopos, in response to the rapidly growing market for electric vehicle (EV) parts. It will also increase its production of electric motor cores. Affiliate POSCO International said it will invest 22.9 billion won in Cheonan, Gyeonggi Province, and in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province ― homes to its subsidiary, POSCO SPS ― to build new production facilities for the motor cores. Its goal is to expand its production capacity in the Korean market from 660,000 per year, to 2 million by 2025, to cope with the growing demand for EVs. ....
