Ethics committee finds probable cause in sexual misconduct allegation against Idaho lawmaker

An Idaho ethics committee has ruled there was probable cause in a sexual misconduct allegation leveled against a state lawmaker in March.
The Idaho state House’s Ethics and House Policy Committee announced Friday it has unanimously ruled there was probable cause in the claim against state Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger (R). The panel will investigate the allegation and hold a public hearing.
The accusation against von Ehlinger was first reported Friday after he announced he was facing a claim of “unconsented sexual contact” by a volunteer on his staff. He has denied any wrongdoing.

The volunteer is accusing the lawmaker of forcing her to perform oral sex on him despite her saying that she did not want to. She later told authorities she was frightened to be around von Ehlinger. ....

BOISE, Idaho A legislative ethics committee is investigating a rape complaint made against Lewiston Republican Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger.
In the complaint, Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms Kim Blackburn said the accuser reported that von Ehlinger had taken her out to dinner and then back to his apartment on the pretext that he had forgotten something. That s when the accuser said the lawmaker sexually assaulted her. She said she told him no and froze. ....

BOISE (AP) A legislative ethics committee is investigating a rape complaint against an Idaho state lawmaker.
Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger, a freshman Republican from Lewiston, denied the allegation. His attorney has called for the ethics investigation to be dismissed, saying the encounter was consensual.
In the complaint filed by House Republican leaders on March 17 and released Friday, the accuser told Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms Kim Blackburn that she was assaulted after von Ehlinger took her out to dinner and then back to his apartment on the pretext that he’d forgotten something. She said it happened despite the fact that she said “no” and froze. ....

Idaho state Rep. Aaron von Ehlinger, a freshman Republican from Lewiston, is under investigation by the House ethics committee for allegedly raping an adult legislative volunteer.
As first reported by the Lewiston Tribune, von Ehlinger denied the accusation and said he was fully cooperating with the legislative investigation. He has not been charged with a crime.
According to the complaint filed by House Republican leaders on March 17, the victim, whose name was redacted, spoke with Assistant Sergeant-at-Arms Kim Blackburn the morning of March 11.
The victim told Blackburn that Rep. von Ehlinger took her to Barbacoa Grill for dinner on March 10 and later went back to his apartment to grab something he had forgotten. ....
