that s the situation we re in. let s just be clear, the russians are killing ukrainians. and if the russians overrun the ukrainian soldiers, they will kill more civilians. we all want to be sure that the ukrainians can defend themselves and civilians. we don t have the regular authority, to build back up the industrial capacity to build up the regular version. it s going to take about six months. in the meantime, during that time, the only thing we have to keep the ukrainians going, to keep them from having to be defeated are these clustered munitions. no one likes, it but that s the only choice we have. i want to revisit a conversation that you and i had during the wagner mercenary group rebellion. in that possibly there is an off ramp with very precious
democratic representative for michigan debbie dingell to talk more about this. we just heard from one of your colleagues, beverley, not giving the cluster munitions to the ukrainians amidst their offensive. where do you stand on this when it comes to the president s decision? it s good to be with you. i m not happy. i have deep concerns about our use of cluster bombs. the fact of the matter, almost won her 20 countries have signed an agreement not to use cluster bombs. they are in human. i m not quite sure the pentagon is accurate about what they say the dud rate is. they have consulted with congress. i think they should have consulted with congress more. i think you re going to see amendments in the house this month to deal with this. i am very, very deeply concerned. i support the people of ukraine. i am very concerned about this
about ukraine in nato today or even next week. we are talking about the president just said, which is good. which is a path. an invitation to nato to join. an invitation for ukraine to join nato, that s what we are looking for. we re not talking about now, we re talking about a pathway. and there is another big summit coming up next, year it s going to be here in washington. that is a great time to have ukraine in nato. so with, this i want to have the cluster bombs as well. the president promising to provide cluster of secretly need military. i know that you agree with this decision. i just spoke with congressman who is very worried about this. why aren t you on board with this? if there was a choice, yasmin, if there was a choice on how to provide the weapons, the ammunition to the ukrainians, we would take it.
