The police have so far registered an FIR under the relevant sections of the IPC and Transplantation of Human Organs Act against Fortis Hospital Jaipur, and the middleman Murtaza Ansari, a native of Jharkhand, who is yet to be arrested, police said. The Indraprastha Medical Corporation Ltd (IMCL) on Monday asserted that it follows every legal and ethical requirement for transplants, including government guidelines, refuting a report which alleged that it was involved in "cash-for-kidney racket".
The report in The Telegraph has also mentioned the name of a senior transplant surgeon of Apollo Hospital, stating that he was named by patients and agents as the surgeon who conducted the transplants.
