This winter’s rainfall split Israel into two separate entities, with one receiving average or higher rain, and the other experiencing severe drought, figures show.
An imaginary boundary ran east-west across the Beit Kama Junction, located more or less equidistant between the southern cities of Kiryat Gat and Beersheba.
Kiryat Gat saw 443 millimeters (17.4 inches) of rain, 104 percent of its usual annual average from December 1 to February 28, while Beersheba, just 55 kilometers (34 miles) to the south, experienced just 107 mm (4.2 inches), a quarter of Kiryat Gat’s and just over half (56%) of its annual average. ....

IDF concludes November training plane crash likely due to low altitude stall

The Israel Defense Forces on Wednesday released a final report on the fatal crash of a military training plane in November, finding a “very high probability” the aircraft stalled during a low altitude maneuver, causing the pilots to lose control.
The stall likely did not result from a technical failure but rather a set of circumstances that the pilots had not trained for, according to the military.
The November 24 crash killed Cpl. Lihu Ben-Bassa, 19, and his trainer, Maj. (res.) Itay Zayden, 42, when the small Grob G 120 “Snunit” trainer plane hit the ground near Kibbutz Mishmar Hanegev in southern Israel. ....

Netanyahu 'doesn't rule out' adding an Arab candidate to Likud list

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visits a vaccination center in the Arab Israeli city of Tira, amid speculation he could place an Arab lawmaker on his Likud list ahead of the March 23 elections.
According to Channel 12, asked about the possible placement of an Arab lawmaker on his right-wing list, Netanyahu tells a reporter, “I don’t rule that out. I’ll sort out my issues with the Likud election committee and we’ll see.”
