The nonagenarian poet who was born as Hans Raj Abrol died aged 90 in Jammu city
Sad news about the death of eminent Urdu poet, Arsh Sahbai, transported me to ‘Kul Hind Mushaira’, which was held at Jammu’s Abhinav Theatre in 2006: A famous poet and film-lyricist, suddenly stops in the middle of his recital. With high regard, he addresses the ustaad shayar who was lost in his own thoughts, saying “Arsh sahab, sun leejiay, hum logon ne aap ki ghazlain pardh kar likhna seekha hai – please pay attention, we have learnt poetic craft while reading your poetry.”
