Full dress rehearsal ahead of Republic Day held in Kargil - Scoop News Jammu Kashmir

Kargil,January 24 (Scoop News)- Ahead of the 73rd Republic Day celebrations in district headquarter Kargil, a full dress rehearsal was today held at Khree Sultan Chow Sports Stadium, Bemathang. Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Tsering Motup unfurled the national flag and inspected the parade and took salute at the march past. Deputy Superintendent of Police Headquarter, Muhammad Aslam Mir and officers of Civil Administration and Police Department were present on the occasion. The march past was presented by the contingents of Ladakh Police, cadets of National Cadet Corps (NCC) and Police band party. The rehearsal was held by following all the measures of Covid-19 including wearing of masks and social distancing. Meanwhile, the rehearsal regarding the republic day celebrations were also held at sub divisional and Tehsil headquarters of the district, where concerned Sub-District Magistrates and Tehsildars inspected the programs and reviewed the arrangements. And many had to return empty-handed. People of the region have been complaining that they haven’t seen fresh vegetables in the past four months. Leh and Kargil districts are facing this shortage due to blocked roads, even though the government claimed that the Zojila pass, situated at an altitude of 11,578 ft, was cleared of snow and the 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh highway thrown open to traffic on February 28, much ahead of schedule, for the first time in 70 years. Since last December, when the road was closed following heavy snowfall, the government had been claiming it would be reopened much earlier than usual.
