KUALA LUMPUR, April 19 Bursa Malaysia’s losses widened at mid-morning amidst mounting concerns over surging Covid-19 cases globally. At 11am, only the transportation, logistics and technology indices were in positive territory. The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) decreased 8.96 points to 1,599.42 compared to Friday’s close of 1,608.38. The barometer index opened 0.27 of-a-point weaker at 1,608.11. Bursa Malaysia rebounds to end marginally higher on late buying 16 Apr 2021 / 19:16 H. KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia closed marginally higher today, with its key index rebounding on last-minute buying in tandem with the recovery in the broader market, thanks to gains in Top Glove, other selected heavyweights and small-capitalisation stocks. The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) rose 0.13 of-a-point to end the week at 1,608.38 against Thursday’s close of 1,608.25. The barometer index, which opened 0.81 of-a-point weaker at 1,607.44 this morning, fluctuated between 1,600.3 and 1,609.76 throughout the session. Top Glove was the largest contributor to the gains in the composite index with 2.03 points, after rising 13 sen to RM5.57, while Supermax was the biggest gainer among the 30-constituent index as it increased 4.12 per cent. ....

12:59 PM MYT KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia advanced on a relief rebound on Tuesday following the Health Director General s comment that there probably would not be an further extension of the movement control order past Feb 4. At 12.30pm, the FBM KLCI was up 8.07 points to 1,584.68, after having risen to a high of 1,609.19 earlier in the day. Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said yesterday the current extension of the MCO should reduce the number of coronavirus case numbers to bring the country back to a conditional movement control order by February. Investors saw this as a sign that the recent selling on the stock exchange has been overdone, leading to a bout of bargain-hunting. ....
