County IT's contract with Pendleton extended

The Pendleton Town Board has approved an extension of the town s’s contract with the Niagara County Information and Technology Department for 2021. 
The town had entered into an agreement with the department in 2018 that allows for four yearly renewals if both parties agree, according to documents provided on Dec. 14 at a town board meeting. The City of Lockport has a similar contract with the department, but is pending renewal, said IT Director Bill Flynn.
The Pendleton agreement provides an hourly rate for a network administrator of $63.95, and $95.53 for overtime and $159.88 as a holiday rate. Similarly, a database administrator makes $51.83 an hour, $77.75 on overtime and $129.58 for holidays when working for the town. ....

Democrats in the Niagara County Legislature s minority caucus are right: the county doesn t need a dedicated public information officer.
We would argue it hasn t needed one ever, and we have argued the same point pretty much every year since 2008, when the legislature s Republican-led majority caucus created the position.
Democrats correctly suggested on Tuesday that the timing was right to do away with the job, or at least combine it with that of the legislature clerk. As Minority Caucus Leader Dennis Virtuoso, D-Niagara Falls, noted, legislature Clerk Mary Jo Tamburlin has announced her intention to retire this year. Combining the clerk and PIO positions could have saved about $89,000 next year, according to Virtuoso s estimates. ....
