Reporter former director bernic says the way bart and unions negotiate doesnt work. He says about the only solution he sees for both sides is binding arbitration. Thank you associations a lot of relief. Bart riders were happy there was no strike today. Also, regular ac transit passengers were thankful they didnt have to fight for a seat. Some riders still have nightmares from the last strike in july. Buses were packed. Frustrating. We didnt get seats. We had to take the next bus or we had to stand.
