Slow starts have haunted the Lincoln Blue Tigers all season. It bit them again in Friday’s afternoon’s MIAA Tournament quarterfinal game against the Emporia State Hornets at Municipal Auditorium. The Hornets took the lead 22 seconds into the contest and never gave it up as fourth-seeded Emporia State held off a late comeback bid from the fifth-seeded Blue Tigers in a 79-70 victory.
The season has come full circle for the Lincoln Blue Tigers’ men’s basketball team.
Lincoln (17-9, 13-9 MIAA) started the year by defeating UMKC 59-56 in its first exhibition game and now the Blue Tigers are set to open the MIAA Conference Tournament at noon today against the Emporia State Hornets (21-7, 15-7) at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City.
