Every unit of the prison is infested with gangs. Drugs are potent and easy to score. Inmates walk around armed with hidden shanks. Beatings and stabbings are a common occurrence. Homicides follow hangings, and hangings follow homicides.
Dead bodies pile up with disturbing regularity.

A man accused of helping plan the murder of a fellow Stony Mountain Institution inmate has been acquitted after the judge ruled his part in the “cold, calculated and senseless murder of extreme violence” couldn’t be proved beyond a reasonable doubt.

Aaron Michael Ducharme, 30, was charged with first-degree murder along with Kevin Curtis Edwards, 29, and Peter Fisher, 27, after 42-year-old Adrian Fillion was stabbed 52 times and died in hospital in April 2019. Edwards and Fisher both pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in 2019 after testifying that they attacked Fillion with a shank filed from a garbage can after he was lured into his cell by Ducha ....
