Island of Ireland's first 'kestral cam' goes live at Mannok quarries


THE island of Ireland s very first Kestrel Cam has been installed in one of Mannok’s Quarries, and will be live-streamed online in coming months.
The footage can be viewed on Mannok’s website, and will give viewers an exclusive look inside an Irish Kestrel nest throughout the breeding season.
The livestream was been launched on World Earth Day, Thursday, April 22 to highlight the need to protect our local wildlife and wider ecosystems, particularly with the common Kestrel having recently been placed on the Red List as a species now at risk of extinction in Ireland.
Two discreet cameras have been installed in the nesting location under license from NPWS, and in partnership with Netwatch, to enable Queen’s University to study the birds and to raise awareness of the need to protect the species and other wildlife across the island. ....

The country’s fifth Royal Horticultural Society garden, spanning 154 acres in Salford, is due to open on 18 May following construction delays due to Covid-19.
Tickets are to go on sale from 19 April, the RHS announced today. The £35m garden had been due to open on 30 July 2020 but pandemic-related issues forced the project team to revise the construction timescale last year.

Design and engineering firm Arcadis is managing the project on behalf of the RHS, while Bam Construction has been delivering the garden’s welcome building. It is cited as the biggest horticultural project undertaken in Europe since planning permission was granted in 2017, and also marks the first new RHS garden in 17 years and the first ever in an urban location. ....

New RHS Bridgewater garden to open in north west in 2021

The Royal Horticultural Society opens its new garden in the northwest in 2021.
Thousands of plants have gone into the transformation and creation of the new flagship RHS Garden Bridgewater at Salford.
The 154 acre garden is due to open in the grounds of Worsley New Hall on May 11.

The ambition has been to create a magnificent world-class garden in the heart of Salford with inspiration drawn from the site s heritage. It is the RHS s first garden in the north west region - the nearest RHS garden is at Harlow Carr in Harrogate, with three others at Wisley in Surrey, Rosemoor in Devon and Hyde Hall in Essex. ....
