GUWAHATI: President Ram Nath Kovind’s address to the joint sitting of Parliament on the inaugural day of the budget session on Friday started with a verse penned by ‘Asom Kesari’ and nationalist poet Ambikagiri Raichoudhury who had laid the foundation for strengthening Assamese identity but within the framework of the grand Indian nationality.
Kovind also said that a “policy for rapid development of the northeast while preserving its unique geographical, cultural and linguistic characteristics and its social identity is being implemented.”
The President read out, “Whenever India has remained united, it has been able to attain even seemingly unattainable goals.
