Thank you to all who helped | News, Sports, Jobs

KERRY STOVER By now most of you are aware of the terrible accident that happened on Interstate 80 on Wednesday, Dec 16. Briefly, so you can understand, this scene was 55 commercial (mostly tractor-trailer trucks) and 11 passenger vehicles spread out from guardrail to guardrail and a mile or more long. For quite some time, access to the “middle” of the accident was done only by walking. Walking was hard enough in places with ice underneath several inches of falling snow but oh by the way, it was done while carrying heavy rescue tools and medical supplies, too. This is not about me by any stretch but I am authoring this on behalf of all of the emergency first responders who worked that day in extremely harsh, cold, windy and snowy conditions to do what they do best: Help others.

County adopts $41 million budget for 2021 | News, Sports, Jobs

LAURA JAMESON ljameson@lockhaven.com LOCK HAVEN The Clinton County Commissioners adopted a $41.3 million dollar budget with no tax increase this week. Chairman of the board Miles Kessinger said the budget did see a large increase due to the upcoming Bald Eagle Rail Trail improvements. However, that was expected since a preliminary budget was unveiled in November. The increase, more than $2.8 million, is due to the Bald Eagle Valley Trail improvements, which will begin in 2021. “The main increases in this year’s budget were due to the Bald Eagle Valley Trail. The $2.8 million that came in upped our budget that amount,” he said. “It’s going to basically be a pass-through with money given to us by PennDOT for construction of the trail.”
