A RETIRED nurse who took a legal action linked to the CervicalCheck scandal has died just days before mediation involving the HSE and two laboratories is due to begin. Joan Lucey’s family had pleaded for mediation to start sooner as they feared she would not survive for a full hearing of her case in court. The High Court heard yesterday that conversations aimed resolving the action would begin next Tuesday. However, Ms Lucey’s son Sean told Independent.ie last night that the stress of the litigation and uncertainty surrounding mediation had led to her health deteriorating even further. ....

Twelve members of the Killarney Young Farmers discussion group will take part in an overnight relay pushing a milk cart around the An Riocht track in Castleisland.
