As you have just been told, and as i assume you know, the battle of nashville was the last major battle of 1864. It was a major victory, maybe the greatest victory for george h. Thomas and the greatest defeat for john bell hood. As you may be aware, the army with which George Thomas fox battle of nashville was composed of several contingents. You might even say, cobbled together almost on the field of battle there.
