RIVERSIDE COUNTY, Calif. - A Riverside County nurse who cares directly for COVID-19 patients tested positive for the virus though she received the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, and wants people to follow all safety protocols to prevent infections.
Kerry Cavazos, a registered nurse at Riverside Community Hospital, got the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine on December 24. She tested positive for COVID-19 on January 7 after caring directly for a COVID-positive patient. She was scheduled to get her second dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Sunday but was unable to due to her diagnosis. ....

LOS ANGELES - The union representing registered nurses and other staff at three Hospital Corporation of America facilities in Southern California have reached a tentative agreement with the company aimed at improving COVID-19 safety and averting a possible strike.
The covered nurses and licensed medical professionals work at Los Robles Regional Medical Center, Riverside Community Hospital and West Hills Hospital and Medical Center, representatives of Service Employees International Union Local 121RN said. The members are scheduled to vote to ratify the contract Dec. 22 and 23. ....

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) A planned strike by nurses at three Southern California hospitals has been averted after a new deal with reached with the union, hospital officials announced Saturday.
Nurses at Riverside Community Hospital, West Hills Hospital and Medical Center and Los Robles Health System had authorized a 10-day strike starting Christmas Eve, over allegations of unfair labor practices and a failure to protect staff during the coronavirus pandemic.
Now the union, SEIU 121RN, has agreed to a new contract, according to a spokesperson for Healthcare Corp. of America, Far West Division, which operates the three facilities. ....

LOS ANGELES (CNS) - The union representing registered nurses and other staff at three Hospital Corporation of America facilities in Southern California have reached a tentative agreement with the company aimed at improving COVID-19 safety and averting a possible strike.
The covered nurses and licensed medical professionals work at Los Robles Regional Medical Center, Riverside Community Hospital and West Hills Hospital and Medical Center, representatives of Service Employees International Union Local 121RN said. Saturday s tentative agreement concluded 102 hours of negotiations since Dec. 11, after members voted to authorize a strike and a federal mediator was brought in to help resolve issues.   ....
