Atleast 42 people have died and six people are missing after Kerala received excessive rains since October 11. According to preliminary calculations, the government pegged the losses in the state at Rs 200 crore.

The death toll due to heavy rains in Kerala reached 22 on Saturday, as Idukki and Kottayam districts were hit hard. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the centre would provide assistance to the Pinarayi Vijayan-led state to tackle the situation.
