Rouche and his crew are creating a new wave of catering services and private events with the introduction of pop-up restaurants. The pop-up restaurant scene is a COVID-friendly alternative to the food truck and catering option that includes a mobile kitchen and a set menu with mostly ala carte options in outside event spaces. The concept also creates a mystery appeal that goes against the grain by popping up at various locations with little to no advertisement. Since Wing-N-It Savannah’s introduction into the food scene, they have strived to create an experience within their food standards that focuses on customer service, collaboration and entertainment. ....
At the corner where three Savannah neighborhoods meet, young Black entrepreneurs came together and showcased their products while music, poetry and the aroma of seafood fries filled the air. With the temperature in the mid 70s, the entrepreneurs lined the perimeter of the 3 Points Food Court located at 409 Orchard Street for the Dear Young People event Saturday. Nineteen-year-old JaQuan Oliver hosted the event that brought Savannah State University students, locals and businesses together. Oliver, who is also a youth minister, said the Dear Young People movement started when he graduated from Johnson High School in May 2020. It started as a show with inspirational quotes, music and guests and blossomed into the event held Saturday. ....

Black Savannah churches to celebrate Emancipation Proclamation P. E. James E. Taylor For Savannah Morning News The Emancipation Association of Savannah and Vicinity has scheduled the 158th worship service of the Emancipation Proclamation for 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Jan. 1. The virtual service will include preaching, singing, reading of the Emancipation Proclamation, remarks by leading city and county officials, and special recognitions. Rev. Chester Ellis, whose contributions to the association and to the community are immeasurable, will receive a special award on the eve of his inauguration as chairman of the Chatham County Commission. Bishop Matthew M. Odum, pastor of Temple of Glory Community Church, will serve as speaker. Those scheduled to make remarks include senatorial candidate Rev. Raphael Warnock. ....
