People are drawn to end places. Key West and Provincetown, for example, attract tourists not only due to their natural beauty but in the case of Key West, because it’s as far south as you can go in the continental United States. Provincetown, of course, is at the end of Cape Cod.
Penikese Island is another such end place. The last in a local chain known as the Elizabeth Islands, the tiny island was once considered far enough removed from civilization to serve as a leper colony and prior to that a natural history school. From the early 1970s to 2011 it was home to the Penikese Island School, an alternative treatment facility for troubled boys that used the island’s remoteness to its advantage. ....

The Kennedy Museum of Art opens
Legacy: Don Adleta and Karen Nulf, 60 years of graphic design Feb. 1, 2021, marking the re-opening of the museum due to the pandemic.

Provincetown is a town located at the extreme tip of Cape Cod. Sometimes called P-town the town is known for its beaches, harbor, artists, tourist industry, and its reputation as a gay village.
From afar, Cape Cod looks like one of many New England summer vacation destinations. But zoom in and it’s so many different, wonderful pieces. It’s the land of eccentric ice cream scoops heaped on fresh, buttery waffle cones. It’s the ecologically fragile peninsula where seals flop on tidal flats, whales come up for air, and bats swoop overhead. It’s a confluence of cranberry bogs, marshy lime green wetlands, and scrubby dunes. And though it’s a favorite summertime spot, it is just as nice off-season.
