However, his referring to employees at CTV London as “the weather girl” and the “weekend girl” does need addressing. These individuals are grown women, not girls. In the same letter you mentioned “young males” rather than “boys.” Is that gender equality? ....
James J. Dillman, 97, Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Gettysburg, passed away Monday, April 19, 2021, at the Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Fla. He was born March 1, 1924, in Gettysburg, the son of the late Charles and Mary Cox Dillman. His wife of 67 years, Hazel Andrew Dillman, died in 2013. Jim was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church for 95 years. He attended Gettysburg High School. Jim started his career in the grocery business with the John C. Lower Co. wholesale foods, but soon moved to Gilbert Grocery Store in Gettysburg. Gilbertâs was purchased by Ken Faust and became Kennieâs Market where Jim worked until his retirement in 1989. While at Kennieâs, Mr. Dillman was involved with most aspects of the store from unloading trucks, running registers, closing in the evening, making sure shelves were full. Following his retirement he worked part-time on the grounds crew at Gettysburg College for the next 10 years. ....
Staff Writer WASHINGTONVILLE – Village council is increasing wages for street department positions in an attempt to find a part-time employee. Council agreed to increase the pay for Roads Supervisor Eddie Garrett to $12 per hour and advertise the 32-hour part-time position at $12 per hour. Council authorized Clerk Dale Davis to prepare legislation for the action. Mayor Herman Frank this week reported the village has not received any interest in the part-time position, which will need filled by summer when mowing and pot holes will need addressed. “We can’t penalize residents (for property maintenance violations) if we can’t take care of own,” he said. ....
