Springs College facing backlash over grad ceremony that appears to have violated public health orders

Photos are circulating online of a graduation ceremony that apparently took place at Springs College, which has been followed by backlash.
The photos show graduates from Springs College, which is an affiliate of Springs Church, gathering indoors without masks and in close proximity, and Pastor Leon Fontaine can be seen attending the ceremony remotely.
Jonathan Glass, a parent whose oldest child is graduating from Kelvin High School, said there won’t be any kind of traditional ceremony for his kid when they graduate in June, and he was in disbelief when he saw the Springs College pictures.
“We are trying to get through this pandemic so that we can return to some normalcy, and to see other people who think that the rules aren’t going to apply to them, it really just makes me think that we’re going to be in this longer now,” said Glass. ....

Manitoba premier tells teachers to share province's last remaining piece of chalk

WINNIPEG – Manitoba premier Brian Pallister has encouraged teachers to share the province’s last remaining piece of chalk in all of the province’s public schools.
Pallister announced the new chalk share program for a well-worn stick of calcium carbonate will be the only free item provided to 16,000 teachers currently working in the public education system.
“Teachers will have a two letter limit on the chalk,” said the premier referring to the government’s last purchase of a public school-related expense. “But we would much prefer teachers to provide their own chalk, chalkboard, classroom, and salary.”
The 2 inch chalk, which is now down to 1.5 inches, is currently being used in a grade 10 math class at Kelvin High School to make a division sign and half of a number 8. ....
