The game was deadlocked at 4 entering the bottom of the seventh and the TinCaps got a rally started the same way they ve put runners on so often in recent weeks: with a walk. It was Chris Givin that drew the free pass, his fifth walk in three games with Fort Wayne since coming down from Double-A San Antonio. How it Happened The TinCaps trailed by as many as seven in the early innings, but rallied late and sent the tying run to the plate with one out after back-to-back walks in the eighth inning. Unfortunately for Fort Wayne, Kelvin Alarcon and Jawuan Harris struck out to end the threat. Fort Wayne got it going again in the ninth, however. Jonny Homza got the uprising going with an eight-pitch at bat that ended in a slow bouncer to third that Victor Nova couldn t handle, giving Homza a chance to reach. Fort Wayne is a season-worst eight games below .500. How it Happened The game began poorly and got worse for the TinCaps. The Captains got going immediately, with left fielder Will Brennan lacing a line drive into the right-center gap for a leadoff double in the top of the first. A single put two on and by the end of the inning, two runs had scored against Fort Wayne starter Moises Lugo, putting Lake County in front early. ....
TinCaps fall to Great Lakes, 10-9, after Contreras ejection DYLAN SINN | The Journal Gazette The TinCaps let a late-inning lead get away for the second straight night and dropped their third in a row, 10-9 to the Great Lakes Loons at Parkview Field. How it Happened Great Lakes trailed 9-6 entering the seventh and had just watched Fort Wayne send nine hitters to the plate in the bottom of the sixth. The Loons decided to do the TinCaps one better and gave 10 hitters a chance to bat in the inning. The trouble started with one out, when Fort Wayne first baseman Seamus Curran bobbled a ground ball and then threw it away, putting a runner on second.
