Cape Cod St Patrick s Parade canceled, could return in September

Editor s note: This story has been updated to correct the name of the committee that is helping to finance the parade in September. YARMOUTH Desmond Keogh knew the Cape Cod St. Patrick’s Parade was popular, but he didn’t realize just how popular it was until this year. Keogh chairs the committee that organizes the annual parade. When it was announced on Facebook in January that this year s event would be canceled, the committee was inundated with posts expressing people s disappointment. “We didn’t realize how much it meant to people,” Keogh said. “We’ve been hearing for three months how devastated they are.”

Where to get corned beef and cabbage for St Patrick s Day on Cape Cod

There are some holidays so closely associated with certain foods that only a particular dish will do. So it goes with St. Patrick’s Day, and corned beef and cabbage. Other Irish dishes are top choices, too, of course. Local owners and managers at restaurants with an Irish theme mention that diners at the restaurants or for takeout can also get other favorites for St. Patrick’s Day week or every day. Some offer a beef or lamb stew, Shepherd’s pie, fish and chips, corned-beef hash, blood sausage. etc. It’s the corned beef and cabbage, though, that gets added to some menus for March 17 and before, and the Irish dish that gets asked for most often around the holiday.
