Govt lifts enhanced MCO in two areas in Johor, Perak


PUTRAJAYA: The government has lifted the enhanced movement control order imposed on two localities in Johor and Perak.
The localities are the Kejora Juara workers hostel in Bukit Pasir, Muar, and three blocks at the Kamunting Correctional Centre in Taiping.
Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in the case of the Kejora Juara workers hostel, health authorities have, to date, carried out 2,258 screenings for Covid-19, of which cumulatively the locality recorded 1,837 positive cases.
“All those who are positive have been warded and sent for quarantine and health authorities confirmed that they are no longer waiting for sample results. ....

KUALA LUMPUR: The government today announced the end of the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) at the Kejora Juara workers’ hostel in Bukit Pasir, Muar, Johor, said Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

Ismail Sabri said the Health Ministry (MOH) conducted 2,258 screening tests and of that, a cumulative number of 1,837 positive Covid-19 cases were recorded.
“However, the MOH confirmed that all the positive cases admitted to wards and those being isolated at the quarantine and low-risk treatment centres (PKRC) have recovered and there are no pending samples,” he said in a statement today. ....

Lii Henn's 875 workers under quarantine until Jan 29

KUALA LUMPUR: Lii Henn Industries Bhd’s 875 workers employed by its subsidiaries have been placed under quarantine and isolated since last Saturday, Jan 16 for suspected Covid-19.
The furniture maker reported on Monday the workers will continue to be quarantined until Jan 29 and they will be allowed to resume work once clear of Covid-19.
It issued the statement to Bursa Malaysia in an update on the enhanced movement control orders (Emco) implemented from Dec 27 on specific foreign workers dormitories in Kejora Juara in Bukit Pasar, Muar. ....

Covid-19: Major spike in Johor cases due to voluntary foreign worker screenings, says Vidyananthan


JOHOR BARU: The major spike of Covid-19 cases in Johor is due to the voluntary screenings carried out by employers on their foreign workers, which started last month.
State Health And Environment Committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said that on Thursday (Jan 7), Johor once more recorded the highest number of new cases in Malaysia, with 1,103 cases.
“From the figure, about 1,043 cases are from clusters and close contact screening actively carried out in the field, ” he said, adding that there was a new cluster being reported here, which is the Senai Murni cluster.
He also said that based on investigations, the Health Department found the main contribution to the new cases among foreign workers was due to their movements to red zone areas outside Johor as well as not following the standard operating procedures (SOPs) that have been put in place. ....
