Charges laid in gun trafficking investigation

A bust at a Kelowna home last year related to firearms trafficking has now resulted in charges.
Keenan Ely, 23, is facing charges of possession of a firearm at an unauthorized place, careless storage of a firearm, failure to report a lost or stolen firearm, and multiple counts of firearm trafficking.
He has been released from custody on strict conditions for a future court date.
On May 20, 2020, officers from the Kelowna RCMP Special Enforcement Unit (SET), assisted by the RCMP National Weapons Enforcement Support Team (NWEST), executed a search warrant at a residence on Theodora Road in Kelowna. The warrant was related to an active investigation into suspected firearms trafficking. ....

A big jump in new covid-19 cases yesterday as the province reported 617 for the previous 24 hours. Once again Fraser Health accounted for more than half the new cases. The number continued to drop in the Interior Health area though with just 17 new cases. There will be a live update this afternoon at 3.
The Ministry of Health is investing in Interior research universities to understand the harmful effects of COVID-19 and mitigate its impact on communities across the province. UBCO is part of the group that will take on projects from identifying the effects of the pandemic on the mental health and well-being of people living in rural communities, to improving the lifespan of N95 masks. To kick things off, the ministry is providing $150,000. ....
