The Dodgers took their fifth consecutive pitcher of the MLB Draft, as they drafted Boston College right-handed pitcher Emmet Sheehan in the sixth round with their 192nd pick. He’s got some size, as he’s 6-foot-5 and 215 points.
He started 13 games for the Eagles in 2021, going 5-5 with a 4.23 ERA. In 76

3 innings, Sheehan struck out 106. Although his SO/9 was solid, he struggled with command and issued more walks than you’d like to see. He averaged four walks per nine innings.
During the regular season, he set a single-game school record with 15 strikeouts against Pittsburgh, a Top 25 team at the time. According to Baseball America, Sheehan’s best pitch is his fastball, which has been clocked as high as 97 mph. “His fastball rides up in the zone longer than hitters expect, so he generates a lot of empty swings when he elevates with his heater, and that fastball is how Sheehan gets a lot of his swings and misses.”

The Dodgers have the final pick in the first round of the 2021 MLB Draft, which starts on Sunday night (4 p.m. PT; ESPN, MLB Network). In the latest iteration of Baseball America’s mock draft, Carlos Collazo projects the Dodgers to take Jud Fabian, an outfielder from the University of Florida.
“It’s hard to find an org who has developed hitters better than the Dodgers, so this would be a fantastic pairing of talent with an org who has a track record of making the most of it,” Collazo wrote.
Fabian, a draft-eligible sophomore from Ocala, Florida, hit .249/.364/.560 with 20 home runs and 10 doubles in 59 games in 2021, making All-SEC first team as well as the All-SEC defensive team for his work in center field.
