Jamie Millett-Schaefer, she calls it the “extended offseason.”
The extension, of course, is a result of the pandemic, and the complete cancellation of the 2020 spring sports seasons. Millett-Schaefer said the wait seemed like an eternity.
“You felt like you were always going to get there, but it just kept getting pushed out,” she said.
Millett-Schaefer said he team did a number of things on Zoom to stay engaged, including a team workout challenge.
“We started one within our program last spring with individual competitions and I gave out T-shirts for prizes,” she said. “Every day you did a daily workout and you earned points. I also included things like reading books on sports psychology. We also included mindfulness and meditation. It wasn’t just workouts. We dragged that out as long as we could last spring.
