Yearender: Office of the Vice President focuses on COVID-19 response

•    VP Robredo has been playing an active role in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic since the onset of the outbreak in March.  
•    The Vice President’s initiatives include assisting frontliners by raising over P60 million to provide them with personal protective equipment (PPE) sets, test kits, hot meals, dormitories, and free shuttle service.
•    Donors and volunteers from all walks of life responded to the VP’s call through an online “bayanihan” (community cooperation), some walked into the VP’s office donating a variety of items for relief packages, others offered to be volunteers.
•    The pandemic is the time to be united and set aside politics, she stressed. ....

Everyone can agree that 2020 has been an awful year from the volcanic eruption at the start of the year, through the pandemic which ravaged people’s health and wealth, to the typhoons and floods that have wrought so much damage in the last couple of months. The one good thing to come out of all this has been people’s willingness to help others. From offers of shelter to the refugees from Taal Volcano, to fund drives for PPEs and free meals for the pandemic struck, to free kitchens and donation drives for the flood ravaged, this year has brought out some of the best from people.
