Oakland where fireworks are blamed for at least one fire. I dont think theres anything the police can do to stop it. It is a galling display that seems to go off bigger and brighter. The backyard displays above oakland as shown on this youtube video. The show went on despite efforts by Oakland Police and Alameda County sheriffs who both put dozens of officers on the streets to try to minimize the dangerous spectacle. We have seen an increase in the amount of fireworks. The alameda sheriff says theres only so much police can do. We try to control it as best we can. But there is no way to stop it. A lot of the fireworks that we see are legal in other states. You just have to go across the border. There was no injury or death but there was some destruction including a garage fire where today we found a huge pile of fireworks debris. Mixed with shell casings. Sometimes you cant really know if it is a gunshot or the firecracke firecrackers. So people get killed. They do need to bring it dow
