May 20, 2021 Kay Menzies The Board of Directors of the Belize Electric Company Limited (BECOL) has appointed Kay Menzies as President and C.E.O. of the corporation effective June first. The appointment follows the retirement of Lynn Young, outgoing President and C.E.O., after a thirty year career in the electricity sector. Menzies has considerable board experience having held chair and director positions at Belize Port Authority, Belize Trade and Investment Development Service, Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Economic Development Council, and Grace Kennedy (Belize) Limited. She has also been a director on the board of Belize Electricity Limited. Lynn Young is taking up a new role as Ambassador Designate to the United States and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States and High Commission to Canada. ....

Following the selection of a new board of directors for Belize Telemedia Limited two weeks ago, B.E.L. has also named a chairman and four directors for ordinary shares. Attorney Andrew Marshalleck has been appointed as the new presiding officer for the utility company, succeeding Senior Counsel Rodwell Williams. Other executives include Anwar Flores of the Big Creek Group, businessman Anil Hotchandani, Vice President of the Corozal Free Zone, Emilio Zabaneh and Amir Carillo. The board of directors of Belize Electricity Limited was previously comprised of twelve members, including five from the Government of Belize, three from the Social Security Board, three from Fortis Cayman and one by the board itself.
