Darkest day as Malaysia records 26 deaths

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia marked a grim milestone with 26 deaths from Covid-19 reported yesterday, the highest in a single day, bringing the cumulative death toll to 1,683.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 416 cases currently being treated in intensive care units, with 216 cases requiring ventilator aid.
The 26 deaths comprised seven cases in Selangor, six in Kuala Lumpur, four in Johor, three each in Kelantan and Pahang, two in Penang, and one in Sarawak.
Those who died were between the ages of 46 and 90, and most of them had pre-existing medical conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, kidney disease or cancer. ....

Covid: New cases fall to 3,733 today but daily fatalities at record high (Updated)

LUMPUR: The total daily cases of Covid-19 in Malaysia has dropped when 3,733 cases were recorded in the past 24 hours after reporting more than 4,000 daily infections for two days but there were 26 fatalities today, the highest daily death toll so far.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (
pix) said the latest development brings the cumulative positive cases in the country to 440,667 while the overall Covid-19 death toll stands at 1,683.
He said the breakdown of new cases comprised 3,727 local transmissions and six import cases while the active cases now total 37,060.
“The death cases involved 25 Malaysians and a foreigner aged between 49 and 85 with the majority having chronic underlying health conditions,” he said in an official statement on the development of Covid-19 here today. ....

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia marked another grim day on Sunday (May 9) after recording 26 deaths - the highest number of fatalities recorded in a single day so far - bringing the cumulative death toll to 1,683.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 416 cases that are being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), while there are another 216 cases that require respiratory aid.
The 26 deaths consisted of seven cases in Selangor, six cases in Kuala Lumpur, four cases in Johor, and three cases each in Kelantan and Pahang, two cases in Penang and one in Sarawak.
