we should expect much more of it to come. charles: dan? well, you know, i think this really could backfire on the democrats. it once again elevated the kavanaugh issue. remember that confirmation, that was one of the most bitter political contests we ve had, and it really angered a lot of conservatives. it a angeredded a lot of people who just felt the whole idea of due process was being trampled. if now here and now here we go again after a very thinly-sourced new york times story with the democrats reelevating the kavanaugh story. now, i think that the election next year is going to be all about turnout on the right and on the left. and the democratic goal is to try to suppress turnout on the right, get people upset about donald trump, they don t like him enough to vote for him. but what they re doing is elevating turnout with the kavanaugh story. they re reanimating republicans, conservatives and each independents who are upset even independents as the way this divides democra
relationship between you and who will now be the ranking member devin nunes, but i ve heard a lot of investigations democrats want to do. you talked about in another interview that s going to air tonight about investigating what was the president doing with amazon and the postal service. the incoming house judiciary committee chairman was caught on the acela talking about how to investigate the kavanaugh issue. obviously the mueller probe is going to be a part of this. how do you prioritize what to investigate? and at what point do you do too much investigating? well, this is going to be very important, not just in terms of which investigations ought to go forward, which ought to go forward first, but also our strongest purpose here is to put forward a positive agenda. we don t want that lost in a flurry of investigations. you are worried there s so much talk about investigations, that actually the idea of dealing with pre-existing conditions is getting lost? we have to make sure
were obviously very happy about, it is one of the things that president trump ran on, on supreme court injuries advertises. he has been able to get two on to the court. on immigration, interesting that the number is split because it contradicts. earlier polling said 23% said that was their number one issue compared to 41% on health care. i think on the kavanaugh issue, i mean if these numbers are correct and they may change this would suggest a more democrat electorate because most republicans did support kavanaugh nomination. it is also something that, you know, in many of the races was an issue. if you look at claire mccaskill, it was one of the biggest things she was getting hit on, was her support for kavanaugh. so there was an expectation, i think, that this was going to be a winning issue for republicans. scott, you made the point earlier that after kavanaugh that the president didn t really need to do much more to mobilize his base. yeah. look, kavanaugh brought togeth
republicans, so you increase your base you fortify it. yeah, like in new mexico, the governor candidate is staying totally away from the president as are the congressional candidates. what the president is trying to do is get that base revved up so that there s more turnout by his base knowing that he is losing women voters on the kavanaugh issue, suburban voters understood. we will see what happens. at the moment the poll numbers seem to be showing that it s working. thank you very much, rachel, rick santorum and ambassador richardson. thank you for that. president trump declared repeatedly he is a proud nationalist even though it s a word he admits that we are not supposed to use. it s called a nationalist. i say, really we are not supposed to use that word. you know what i am.
