The Daura Emirate Council has announced the suspension of Sallah Durbar, horse parade for the forthcoming Eid-el Fitr celebration within its territory.
This was disclosed in a circular addressed to district heads, signed by Danejin Daura, Alhaji Abdulmimini Sahihu on behalf of the Daura Emir, Dr Umar Faruk Umar.
The Emir further directed his subjects to organize special prayers within their domains to pray for the peace of the nation instead.
The Royal Father also gave directives that he would not be entertaining courtesy calls from the district heads during the festive season.
“The Emir instructed me to inform you that, due to the insecurity in the country, kidnappings for ransom and other threats to national stability, the usual Sallah Durbar will not hold this Eid-el-Fitr.

The Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwan Adamu, has banned horse durbar before, during and after the Eid-el-Fitr Sallah ceremonies, to safeguard the people from the current security challenges.
The horse durbar by royal horsemen, locally known as ”Hawan Daushe”, is held as a key feature of the Eid-el-Fitr Sallah celebrations, attracting huge crowds into the city of Bauchi.
Alhaji Babangida Jahun, the Information officer of the emirate, who announced the ban in a statement made available to NAN, on Sunday, in Bauchi, added that the ban covered the entire emirate council, including its districts, villages and hamlets.

The district head of Kankara, Yusuf Lawal, has been suspended by the Katsina Emirate Council for allegedly sponsoring the activities of bandits in the region.
The suspension followed widespread insecurity in Kankara, Katsina State, which is also President Muhammadu Buhari’s home state.
In a statement on Sunday, Katsina Emirate’s secretary, Iro Bindawa said Lawal’s immediate suspension followed residents’ complaints of his villainous activities.
