MIDDLETOWN The six-member Middletown Town Council voted Monday to move to the next highest vote-getter in the 2020 general election to fill the vacancy left by Robert Sylvia, who abruptly resigned last month.
That means Katie Ventura, if willing and able, would be the one to fill the seat. But Ventura told The Daily News on Tuesday morning she will have to decline.
“My wife and I are actually moving from Middletown,” she said. “We can’t afford to live here as a young family.”
Ventura, who works in private wealth management for Bank of America, has two young children.
