Five victories for No. 2 Arkansas at LSU Invitational, Gear wins 1,500m in Clovis

BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 2 Arkansas claimed three victories while finishing as the top collegian in two additional events during a productive day of competition at the LSU Invitational held inside Bernie Moore Stadium on Saturday.
Arkansas hurdlers swept the top four places in the 100m hurdles, with two current Razorbacks and a pair of alums. Taliyah Brooks produced a 12.73 victory (0.9 wind) while Daszay Freeman (12.93) and Yoveinny Mota (12.95) followed in second and third place as the top two collegians. Payton Chadwick was fourth in 12.98. Jayla Hollis posted a 13.39 to finish eighth in the race and 10
th overall.
The performances by Freeman and Mota were career best times and moved them to No. 3 and 5, respectively, on the UA all-time list. For Mota, who equaled the Venezuelan national record with a 12.97 earlier this season, the 12.95 broke that mark and secured the national record. Freem ....

BATON ROUGE, La. – No. 2 Arkansas competes against No. 1 LSU in the LSU Invitational on Saturday, May 1, inside Bernie Moore Stadium for the first meeting between the two programs since the Texas Relays in late March.
“With LSU ranked No. 1 on the women’s side we want to go in there and see what they look like in person,” said Arkansas women’s associate head coach Chris Johnson. “The last time we’ve seen them was during the Texas Relays, so now we get an opportunity to look that them again and see where we can make some improvements as we try to contend with them on a conference level and national level as well.” ....

No. 2 Razorbacks host 12 teams at John McDonnell Invitational

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 2 Arkansas Razorbacks compete at home this weekend in the John McDonnell Invitational, which will be held Saturday and Sunday, April 24-25, at John McDonnell Field. This marks the first home meet this season in which fans are allowed.
A dozen schools are scheduled to join the Razorbacks this weekend. They include No. 7 Alabama, Arkansas-Little Rock, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Arkansas State, Central Arkansas, Friends, Kansas, Mississippi, Oklahoma State, Oral Roberts, Tulsa, and Wichita State.
“If mother nature will cooperate, across the board we need to keep improving on some of the marks we’ve established already,” said Arkansas women’s head coach Lance Harter. “Some people are starting to switch into secondary events and try to get a good qualifier for either SECs or nationals.” ....

Florida hosted its second meet in as many weeks, with the Tom Jones Memorial beginning on Friday night.
All of the eyes at Percy Beard Track locked onto the pregame proceedings, which honored Florida’s three seniors in theirfinal home meet.
Abby Harelson was joined by national champions Raymond Ekevwo and Thomas Mardal at the finish where coach Mike Holloway presented the trio with framed track pennies and a bouquet of flowers. ....
