Publishers' Message: Support your Town Crier

The Los Altos Town Crier is your local source for all news and advertising in Los Altos, Los Altos Hills and Mountain View. But we are also a struggling business, like many coming out of this pandemic. We need your support. Our two main sources of revenue are advertising and subscriptions. We need both. Without them, your Town Crier would not exist. The Town Crier has not missed a publication date since 1947 (a nearly 75-year run). Please encourage and patronize our advertisers. Tell them you saw their ad in the Town Crier and thank them for supporting your local newspaper.

Los Altos High students showcase their creativity in Rotary Club's bears project | Community

A dozen Los Altos High School students, advised by their art teacher Christine An, tamed a variety of the colorful fiberglass bears populating the downtown area for the Los Altos Bears fundraiser. The Town Crier’s new mascot bear greets the public from the paper’s balcony on Main Street. Student artists Samantha Zhang, Jacqueline Hu and Yelena Tao collaborated with one another and Town Crier staff to create a bear costumed as a traditional European town crier, complete with bell and tri-cornered hat. The trio of artists faced challenges, such as being consistent in painting the bear’s fur and clothing. While they worked in the Town Crier’s lobby, its door open to the sidewalk, curious passersby expressed their appreciation to the artists, who said they had great fun working as a team.
