Chillicothe VA doors are open Kathy Berger Guest columnist A veteran recently stopped by the Chillicothe VA Urgent Care to say thank you to the VA team for taking such good care of him. He was diagnosed with COVID-19 and pneumonia a few weeks prior to his visit, but is now back on his feet and feeling much better. “I’m so very blessed to have the folks at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center to take care of me when I was in need,” the veteran said. It’s been more than 15 months since our nation began its fight against COVID-19. We’ve prevented infections, cared for the sick, saved lives and mourned those we’ve lost. The burdens and responsibilities of the pandemic have strained organizations, families and each of us in very personal ways. Now, as more than 2.3 million veterans across the nation have been fully vaccinated 17,662 vaccinations given by the Chillicothe VA trust and confidence in VA health care is at an all-time high. ....

This is one of 50 public virtual listening sessions across the country from March through June 2021 to hear from Veterans on how to design a health care system of the future and grow services for Veterans in a way that reinforces VA’s role as a leader in the U.S. health care system. “We want to hear from Veterans and other stakeholders in the communities VA serves and understand their vision for VA health care,” said Dr. Kathy Berger, Medical Center Director. “VA’s goal is to collaborate closely with Veterans and other stakeholders to build the best VA health care system that meets the needs of Veterans today and for generations to come.” ....
