Show Transcript CONTROVERSIAL BILL THAT WOULD ALLOW NURSE PRACTITIONERS TO PRACTICE WITHOUT OVERSIGHT FROM A DOCTOR IS BEING DISCUSSED IN BATON ROUGE HOUSE BILL. 495 WAS SCHEDULED TO BE HEARD IN THE FULL SENATE TODAY, BUT IT GOT DELAYED THE BILL WOULD GET RID OF THE CURRENT CPE OR COLLABORATIVE PRACTICE AGREEMENT THE AGREEMENT REQUIRES ASE NUR PRACTITIONER TO HAVE A DOCTOR AVAILABLE BY PHONE AND THEY MUST ALSO PAY THE PHYSICIAN OFEE F FOR THE AGREEMENT NURSE PRACTITIONERS SAY IT’S TIME TO LET THEM PRACTICE INDEPENDENTLY WHILE DOCTORS SAY THE WOULD NOT PROTECT PATIENTS.
